Competences developed in the program (MCER)

A student who takes Spanish classes in our program develops different language skills at each level: communicative, linguistic, sociolinguistic and pragmatic. These skills will help students in their learning process of Spanish and also help them to understand the cultural context of Colombia as well as that of Latin America.
Once students complete the four levels, they will get a B2 level in accordance with the MCER in which students will be able to understand the main ideas of complex texts on both concrete and abstract topics, including technical discussions in his/her field of specialization. Students can interact with a degree of fluency and spontaneity that makes regular interaction with native speakers quite possible without strain for either party. Students will be able to produce clear, detailed text on a wide range of subjects and explain a viewpoint on a topical issue giving the advantages and disadvantages of various options.
Furthermore, students will be able to cope with a wide a range of Andean socio-cultural contexts due to the pedagogical approach adopted by the Language Center.
